Community Emergency Response Training in Salisbury

Wicomico County Emergency Services has announced they are coordinating Community Emergency Response Training, or CERT, tentatively scheduled to begin in September.
The training is free and will take place in Salisbury. It consists of nine modules, totaling in 20 hours of training, with classroom and interactive hands-on practical simulations. Those ages 14 and above are welcome, however those 14-17 must come with a parent or guardian.
The CERT Program teaches people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area. It also trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT members can then use this training to help others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
CERT members are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
