Rabid racoon discovered in Worcester County

BISHOPVILLE- Md.   Worcester County officials discovered a rabid racoon in the area of St. Martins Neck Rd in Bishopville.  County health officials are recommending if you have had contact with this animal to call the Worcester County Health Department’s Office of Environmental Health at 410-352-3234.

Contact can include bites, scratches or other direct contact to people or pets.

Officials ask that citizens immediately report sick animals and those acting in an unusual manner, because there may be additional rabid animals in this area.  Prevent contact with people or pets.  Contact Animal Control or the local police/Sheriff’s office.
