Discover Delmarva: Alley Oops
OCEAN CITY, Md- Alley Oops in Ocean City offers year-round fun for visitors from a full-scale dining experience to an assortment of entertainment options during your visit.
Operations Manager Danielle Wicklin showed us some of the fun you can dive into. “We offer a whole dining room and bar. Along with live shark tanks with feedings throughout the week, and an arcade with miniature bowling.”
Food, drinks, an arcade, bowling, and shark feedings? Sounds like an eventful night out! Wicklin says these feedings are a way to make the dining experience even more fulfilling. “It’s just a way to give guests a way to see something different. Where else can you go where you can see something that’s not the local aquarium?
Of course, I had to check out the bowling and knock off the dust. Man- did I get humbled fast. Miniature bowling can play some games with your shot, according to Wicklin, “With it all being the same-sized ball, you know everyone is at the same level. The pins are on a string, so that’s what makes it miniature bowling vs duckpin bowling.” After a few tries, you start to understand the land and the strategy when you bowl. The fun didn’t stop with miniature bowling, as the arcade is full of fun. No matter your age, there’s for sure a game that is right up your alley. “You have adults who like the classics; skee-ball, classic basketball. Then the younger kids like more of the name-branded games that we have, even though they’re the same concept.” They have plenty of claw games where you’ll find a challenge, but will have plenty of chances to walk away with a cool prize!
Alley Oops also offers an immersive dark ride where you’ll truly feel like you’re in the game yourself! Wicklin said this is a full-body experience for guests. “You’ll sit down, wear glasses. The chair shakes, and you’re shooting at different targets. Competing against seven other people, the goal is to gain the most points.”
We had a great time during our visit, and Wicklin says this is all a part of what they do here.”It’s the best of both worlds because you can come in, have a nice meal, and then venture off to the arcade and the bar all in one building.”
Wicklin says they are in the process of opening another location in Chincoteague, Virginia. This year, you can expect a revamped menu and an assortment of happy hour deals all summer. For more information on their hours and to plan your visit. You can check out their website.
