Discover Delmarva: Hopkins Farm Creamery
LEWES, Del. — Fresh air, family fun, and homemade ice cream all come together at Hopkins Farm Creamery in Lewes, where families are invited to slow down, enjoy a sweet treat, and experience life on the farm.
The farm’s general manager, Stephanie, tells WMDT that being homemade has always been part of the creamery’s mission. “It is a family-owned business. It’s been in business since 2008 we’ve been homemade since 2008.”
Their ice cream is made fresh on the farm every day using quality ingredients — giving visitors a true farm-to-cone experience. “Our ice cream is extremely creamy, very rich, and delicious. . . We take a lot of pride in making our own ice cream here, as well as the employees that are here. They’re super hard working and a really great group of kids.”
And there’s no shortage of options at this creamery. “We make everything from your basic chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, to our signature cow pie, moo cookies, and salted caramel crunch. A flavor that doesn’t get enough credit is our butter brickle — we have everything from cake cones, sugar cones. . . Our waffle cones are also made in house.”
Once you’ve enjoyed a scoop — stick around to soak in the farm’s peaceful scenery and meet the animals at their new playground pasture. “In there we have a couple of sheep, some ducks and a couple of cows. . . We have new benches and umbrellas out in the waiting area, and then we have our big playground out in the back, we have a pergola out there which is shaded, [and] plenty of picnic tables for families to come enjoy as well.”
But the homemade ice cream and family fun are only part of what makes Hopkins Farm Creamery a Delmarva staple. “Something that sets us apart is the farm aspect and the family aspect.”
