Georgetown man arrested after allegedly setting girlfriend on fire

GEORGETOWN, Del. – A Georgetown man is behind bars on attempted murder charges after police say he set his girlfriend on fire early Sunday morning.

Shortly before 3 a.m., troopers were called to a home in the 27000 block of Paradise Street for a report of a woman in distress. They arrived at the home to find a 44-year-old woman suffering from severe burns to a large part of her body. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where we’re told she remains in critical condition.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and her boyfriend, 42-year-old Keith Morrison, got into an argument in their bedroom. Morrison allegedly threw an unknown liquid on the victim and set her on fire before fleeing on foot.

Morrison was found in a nearby field and taken into custody. He was charged with attempt to commit first degree murder and first degree arson, and was held at SCI on a $1 million cash bond.
