Sussex Central scores in bunches to top Lake Forest
FELTON, Del. – Sussex Central baseball beat Lake Forest 16-2, Tuesday afternoon.
The Knights controlled the game from start to finish, building a 5-1 run by the end of the 2nd inning.
Central added four more runs in the 3rd to make it a 9-1 ballgame.
After the Knights tacked on another to make it 10-1 in the 5th, a solo shot from Lake’s Colton Wyatt made the score 10-2 in the top of the 6th inning.
Central rounded out a dominant day on the diamond with six more runs in the top of the 7th for a final score of 16-2.
After the game, Sussex Central Head Coach DJ Long talked about his team’s impressive performance en route to their 5th win of the season: “We just started putting some better swings on balls. We got a good game out of [starting pitcher] Cade Cooper, 6 innings, 2 runs. He’s a senior, he’s been working, had a great start against Smyrna, so-so one against Laurel. He really bounced back and looked good on the mound. Offensively, some of the guys that haven’t had much going so far kinda got going a little bit in today’s game.”
