One arrested following off-road vehicle chase through Salisbury

Antoine Jones

SALISBURY, Md. – Earlier this month, police arrested a man following a reckless off-road vehicle operation in Salisbury.

On March 10th, members of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and Salisbury Police Department were conducting joint operations in the area of the Salisbury Zoo when they reportedly saw off-road vehicles being driven illegally on public roads. Deputies and officers followed two dirt bikes and a four-wheeler, none of which had proper registration. Police say the drivers committed multiple traffic violations, including running stop signs and performing stunts on public roads. One of the individuals was seen driving a blue dirt bike recklessly with a female passenger, and neither were wearing helmets.

Law enforcement says the group traveled through city streets, including the Salisbury University campus area. Police made contact with the individuals near Mt. Hermon Road, at which point one of the subjects, identified as 23-year-old Antoine Jones Jr., fled on foot. He was apprehended a short time later, but resisted arrest and tried to flee multiple times. He was eventually placed under arrest.

The off-road vehicles were impounded, and the other subjects in the group have been identified. The investigation is continuing.

Jones was held briefly before posting bail for the multiple traffic and criminal charges.
