13-year-old charged in connection to bomb threat at James M. Bennett High School
SALISBURY, Md. – Police say a 13-year-old was charged in connection to a bomb threat that was made at a local high school earlier this week.
Police say at around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, the staff at James M. Bennett High School received a bomb threat to the school via phone call. The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and allied agencies responded and searched the building, with the assistance of explosive detection K-9s. No explosive device was found on the premises.
Further investigation led deputies to trace the location where the call originated, and located a 13-year-old female who attends a different school in the county. Subsequent questioning led the juvenile to confess her involvement in the threat.
The juvenile was taken into custody and detained in the Lower Shore Children’s Center in Salisbury.
