Local realtor Holly Worthington suggests county officials be cognizant of where the budget is allocated
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The 2026 county budget has been an ongoing topic. The county is currently working to allocate proper funding to several county departments.
Also, officials must prepare to cover services and costs previously supported by state funds. Due to all the moving pieces, some departments could be cut.
High property taxes are at the heart of the matter, said Holly Worthington, a local realtor, who believes the county should tighten its purse strings.
“Looking at what they have disposed of as far as checks here locally, I mean hundreds and thousands of dollars going to developments that may or may not be affordable.”
Nothing has been decided yet. More hearings and final decisions are expected in the future.
