Del. Correctional Officer charged for allegedly smuggling drugs into prison

SMYRNA, Del. – A Delaware Correctional Officer has been arrested for allegedly smuggling drugs into the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center.

Detectives were called to the prison on Sunday for a drug investigation being conducted by the Department of Correction. It was learned that a Correctional Officer, identified as 27-year-old Yesenia Martinez-Morales, had smuggled approximately 5.82 grams of methamphetamine into the prison.

Martinez-Morales was subsequently charged with official misconduct position used to engage in criminal conduct, promoting prison contraband possess illegal narcotic or prescription medication with intent to deliver, and possession of a controlled substance in a tier 1 quantity. She was later released on a $3,500 unsecured bond.
