Congresswoman Sarah McBride speaking out following committee meeting incident

DELAWARE. – Delaware Congresswoman, Sarah McBride is speaking out after she was publicly mis-gendered by a Republican colleague, Tuesday.

During a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee meeting, Chair Keith Self introduced McBride as the gentleman from Delaware and called her Mr. McBride.

McBride responded, “Thank you, madam chair.” Then, Democratic Representative, Bill Keating jumped in, demanding McBride be properly introduced, and Self abruptly adjourned the meeting.

In a statement to WMDT, Congresswoman McBride said she is, “Not here to fight about pronouns.” She continued, “I’m here to make progress for Delawareans by lowering the cost of living and building a safer America.” She added she was, “Disappointed that the Chair decided to end a committee hearing early”.
