One dead, second injured in Pocomoke crash

POCOMOKE, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash early Sunday morning in Pocomoke.

Just after 1:30 a.m., troopers were called to the area of southbound Route 113, south of Blades Road, for a reported single vehicle crash. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda Accord was driving south when, for unknown reasons, the car reportedly traveled off the roadway and hit a tree.

The front passenger, identified as 34-year-old Forest Crippen, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 35-year-old Yakia Brittingham, was taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional for treatment of her injuries.

Police say they believe impairment may have been a factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
