Three charged with animal abuse and neglect in Wicomico Co.

SALISBURY, Md. – Three people have been charged with animal abuse and neglect following an investigation late last week in Wicomico County.

On Friday, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 1713 Samuel Lane to help Salisbury Police and Animal Control with the incident. Salisbury Police reported finding three deceased canines at the back of the home while trying to serve an arrest warrant on one of the residents, 30-year-old Samuel Powell. Deputies arrived to find three deceased canines in various stations of decomposition, reportedly still wearing dog colors and attached to chains, impeding their movement.

The suspects were identified as Samuel Powell, 29-year-old Nakia Powell, and 39-year-old Miracle Powell. They were each charged with three counts of abuse or neglect of an animal, three counts of causing or authorizing animal abuse or neglect, and three counts of failing to provide and animal with food, veterinary care, drink, proper shelter, and proper protection from the weather.
