Delmarva Power provides helpful tips on how to avoid scammers

Some locals in the area have contacted 47 ABC as they tell us there are possible phone scams going on, as scammers are pretending to be Delmarva Power.
They are apparently telling customers, if they don't pay their bills, they will have their lights shut off.
We contacted Delmarva Power, as they tell us that they never call customers asking for money.
The company says that scammers tend to call and through fear customers obey.
From there, many customers may never recover that money.
We are told they never ask customers for their credit card information over the phone and they only accept mailed checks or online payments.
Now the only time the company will call is to provide robocalls to talk about outages or a concern in the area.
Delmarva Power says they have a call center and if you ever have any concerns to call 1-800-375-7117.
