Clay Conaway rape trial: Day 5

SUSSEX CO., Del. – It was day five of the trial against Clay Conaway a former baseball player at the University of Delaware.

Conaway is accused of raping a woman back in June of 2018 after the two met on Bumble, a popular dating app.

After a total of nearly ten hours of testimony throughout the week, both the defense and the State finally finished questioning Conaway’s accuser.

But not before the defense went into excruciating detail about text messages the alleged victim sent her friends before the alleged rape and conversations she had following the incident.

When given the chance to re-direct examine the alleged victim, the State had her read the entire written statement she wrote for police days after the alleged rape.

Finally, the defense team finished questioning the alleged victim by making her explain each choice she willingly made leading up to the alleged rape.
