Hope is not lost for denied medical cannabis company

Despite not making the list of Maryland’s top 15 medical cannabis growers and processors in line to be licensed, one company has not lost hope.

Angeline Nanni, CEO and president of CannaMed Pharmaceuticals in Hebron, admits she was devastated her company was not selected to move on.

Nanni tells 47 ABC they spent more than one million dollars between the Hebron facility and the build-out; however, they still have hope for their company.

“We had what we considered a winning application and should we decide to apply to the process maybe in the fall or 2017, you have to have that type of hope,” says Nanni.

CannaMed has six employees on their senior leadership team who have been employed for about six months.

Before they make a decision on how to move forward, Nanni tells us they would like to know how they ranked on the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission.

They also had hopes of donating five percent of their revenue to cannabis research; however, those research contracts are now on hold.
