Delmar home damaged in late-night fire

DELMAR, Md. – An investigation is underway following a house fire in Delmar late Thursday night.

The fire was reported at around 10:45 p.m., at 29371 Connelly Mill Road. Crews were able to control the blaze in approximately 45 minutes.

Fire marshals determined the fire began in the garage of the home, but the cause remains under investigation. Total damage has been estimated at $75,000. Investigators say the occupants were alerted to the fire by working smoke detectors and were able to escape safely.
