ACLU of Delaware hosting “Know Your Rights” training

DELAWARE – The ACLU of Delaware is hosting several “Know Your Rights” training sessions this month.

The sessions aim to inform non-profits, educators and others about ways they can protect immigrant communities.

There will be one virtual training session and two in-person.

Topics will include how to navigate ICE and local law enforcement interactions, understanding warrants and searches, rights around those actions and ways to support those who may be vulnerable to anti-immigration policies.

“We really think that with all of the fear that’s gripping the community right now, having education about your rights is one way to feel more empowered and to again, feel more assured that, if you are approached by somebody with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement that you’ll be able to better handle that situation,” said Mike Brickner, Executive Director of ACLU of Delaware.

The trainings are open to the public and will be offered in English. The organization also has “Known Your Rights” wallet cards available here.
