Protestors send strong message to Sen. Chris Van Hollen outside of office

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Dozens of people showed up in Cambridge to protest outside of Senator Chris Van Hollen’s office, Wednesday, calling on him to vote ‘No’ on President Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees.

Toby Perkins with Indivisible Worcester had a fired-up message for Sen. Van Hollen. The local activist sounded the alarm on what he said is an oligarchy in the making.

“We want him to help freeze the senate, by taking every procedural delay he can to stop the nominations,” Perkins said.

Protestors raised question on the merit of several of the cabinet nominees, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was nominated by President Trump as the secretary of Health and Human Services.

In a statement to WMDT, Sen. Van Hollen acknowledged the concerns of his constituents, saying he is, “…Outraged by the Trump administration’s actions” and will, “…Not stop fighting on their behalf”.

As more nominees advance in the senate hearing, protestor Joan Roache said the senator needs to act now before it’s too late.

“It never occurred to me that it would get this bad this fast, because they’re just dismantling the government, piece by piece,” said Roache.
