Good Morning Delmarva discusses UMCES celebrates 100 years
WMDT – The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science is celebrating 100 years of scientific discoveries and will be hosting a few events to kick off the year.
This morning, President, Dr. Fernando Miralles-Wilhelm, stopped by Good Morning Delmarva to tell us how they’re honoring UMCES this year!
UMCES is 1 of 12 universities in the university system of Maryland, it focuses on research into the environment.
The university was started in 1925 to help improve the water quality conditions in Chesapeake Bay and they have grown to tackle other issues such as climate change, energy, food, and much more.
Their research has also expanded to not only include just the Delmarva area but as far as Australia!
They plan on celebrating throughout the year, they want you to share your story with UMCES by visiting: umces100.org
