Salisbury Airport contributes $80 million to overall 2024 MD aviation revenue

SALISBURY, Md. – A recent Maryland Aviation Administration study found the 33 Maryland public use airports generated $1.4 billion in economic activity last year.

Salisbury Airport director, Tony Rudy said the Salisbury Airport alone generated $80 million in business revenue.

“Our airport supports over 1,400 jobs; personal income is over $92 million, that’s a big number. The taxes are about $16 million a year,” said Rudy.

Though the Salisbury Airport is smaller than others, Rudy said they’re continuously looking at ways to draw in more foot traffic, and air traffic, to increase overall revenue.

“The airport has developed a strategic plan, many years ago. We’re looking for continuous growth, how can we improve our facilities, how can we attract more air traffic, more passengers,” said Rudy.

And as the Salisbury area continues to grow, Rudy believes the airport will start sticking out to people and businesses looking to plant roots on the Shore.

“When a business locates to a community, one of the top things they look at is access to air travel. Whether it’s airline, air service; whether it’s charter flights that could be available at the airport, or if the airport has space for them to locate a flight department,” Rudy said.
