Gillis Gilkerson gets go-ahead for downtown revitalization project

SALISBURY, Md. – Monday, Salisbury City Council voted 4 – 1 to increase downtown density, paving the way for construction to begin with a downtown revitalization project.

Gillis Gilkerson will build it out and Brad Gillis said the multi-phased project is set to bring a new apartment complex to downtown Salisbury.

The project has faced opposition, as some have raised concerns about the impacts to downtown parking availability, as lots 1 and 15 are slated to be the site of the project.
Gillis said they’re prepared to work with the community to come to a fair agreement.

“We’re going to continue to work in good faith with the city of Salisbury on the parking garage, making sure that we go through the bond ordinance for the parking garage, so that that parking garage is paid for by user revenue and is part of the parking solution,” Gillis said.

Gillis added he does not have a firm timeline on the project, but he said the groundbreaking would not happen within this year.
