Assault and robbery reported in Rehoboth Beach

On Friday evening around 9:00 PM, officers from the Rehoboth Beach Police Department say they responded to area of the Grenoble Place parking lot, for a report of a robbery.
When they arrived, officers reportedly made contact with a 51-year-old female victim who was standing at her vehicle.The victim apparently informed officers that as she was driving south on Lakeview Street and was stopped by a man who yelled at her for driving too close to him as he was crossing the street.
Scared by the encounter, the victim reportedly drove to a nearby parking lot, where she parked her vehicle. When she got out of her car, she was apparently approached by the suspect and two other men.
According to the report, the victim tried to take a picture of the suspect and call the police, but at that time the suspect reportedly assaulted the victim and knocked her phone out of her hand.
Officials say the victim was able to run to the Boardwalk and contact the police. According to the report, a search of the area was later conducted and neither the suspect nor the victim’s phone could be found. As a result of the assault, the victim apparently sustained a minor cut to her lip.
The suspect is reportedly described as a heavy set male with short brown hair, weighing approximately 250 to 270 pounds. He was reported to be last seen wearing shorts and a green shirt at the time of the incident and was accompanied by two other men.
At this time, officials say this incident is being investigated as an assault.
