H.S. Football Preview: Delmar Wildcats

The Delmar football team is looking for a bounce back season in 2016, following a year full of heartbreak. The Wildcats finished 1-9, but 5 of their 9 losses were by one score or less. If Delmar is going to have their bounce back season, it will be done with one of the youngest teams in the state as they return just 6 seniors from a year ago.

Delmar will look to those few upperclassmen to mentor and help push some of the younger players. The good news for the ‘Cats is that, they return players at several key positions, including at quarterback with senior Jimmy Adkins enters his 2nd season under center. That comes after he had a great junior campaign, on his way to earning 2nd Team All-Henlopen South honors. He’ll be joined in the backfield by a couple other upperclassmen, in Isaac Austin and Brooks Parker. Parker figures to be the work horse for the Wildcats this year, showing good size and speed early in camp.

Delmar opens up their season on September 9th when they travel to0 play Smithsburg.
