Town of Ocean City announces support on recent resolutions regarding offshore wind project
WORCESTER CO., Md. – The Town of Ocean City is supporting the Worcester County Commissioners and Sussex County Council on recent decisions regarding the offshore wind project.
On Tuesday, Worcester County Commissioners approved the resolution to move forward with the purchase of property in the West Ocean City Harbor to prevent the industrialization of the commercial fishing harbor by U.S. Wind. A short time later, the Sussex County Council voted 4 to 1 to deny the proposed conditional use that would have allowed U.S. Wind to build a transmission substation in Dagsboro to connect their power cables to the electric grid.
“We want to thank the Worcester County Commissioners and the Sussex County Council Members for doing the right thing and truly representing the citizens they were elected to represent,” stated Mayor Rick Meehan.
