Seahawks march on to state semis
BERLIN, Md. – Decatur kept their two-season long winning streak alive with a 37-0 demolition of Walkersville in the MPSSAA 2A quarterfinals Friday night.
The Seahawks struck quickly when quarterback Johnny Hobgood found Ethan Bradshaw alone in the end zone for the game’s first score.
Decatur got contributions from all three phases of the game. Special teams blocked a punt deep in enemy territory, leading to a short Blake Wallace field goal.
A number of takeaways put this game away in the first half.
A fumble by the visiting Lions was scooped by Bradshaw, who returned it to the house. The lead ballooned to 17-0.
Walkersville attempted three passes all game, one fell incomplete, and two were grabbed by Seahawk defensive backs.
Brookes Waters tipped a ball into the air and come down with it, leading to a Trybe Wise touchdown reception.
Tre Dorn came away with the other interception, leading to a Zakari Baker touchdown grab in the opening minute of the second quarter.
Decatur remains unbeaten on the season and will welcome in fourth-seeded Westlake in the MPSSAA 2A semifinals next weekend.
