Man arrested for burglary in Mardela Springs

On Friday around 7:30 PM, a deputy reportedly responded to a reported residential burglary in Mardela Springs.
According to the report, when the deputy arrived at Hurley’s Neck Road, they learned that five cars on the property were forcibly entered after the suspect busted out windows on the vehicles. The deputy was also apparently shown a detached garage that had a door forced open and the house that had been entered through a broken window.
Officials say that they later figured out that the suspect in this case took a welder, an air compressor, miscellaneous tools, car parts, an antique wagon wheel, antique knives, a window air conditioner, a box fan and a motorcycle.
With further investigation, the deputy says they found a witness who saw a known subject, Bruce Jones, 35, driving away from the burglarized property towing a trailer full of property stolen from the home.
The deputy reportedly found Jones, and he was in possession of some of the items that were taken. The deputy was also apparently able to conclude that Jones had already either sold or gotten rid of the other items.
According to the report, the deputy placed Jones under arrest and took him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner.
Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Jones in the Detention Center in lieu of $7,500. Jones was reportedly charged with burglary second degree, motor vehicle theft, and theft.
