Local resident looking for volunteers and donations ahead of holiday event

SALISBURY, Md. – The Holidays are just around the corner, and a local resident is looking for help to make Christmas special for families in need.

For the 10th year now, Nichole Collingsworth is holding the annual “In Loving Memory of Eric and Desirae Parkinson” Christmas Party.

She’s looking for volunteers to help set up and break down for the event, and they need donations like winter gear, gift cards, board games, bicycles, and other items that would be appropriate as gifts.

When Collingsworth started 10 years ago, she provided gifts for 10 children. Last year, it was up to over 100 kids throughout the community.

It’s a cause that Collingsworth holds close to her heart. “When I started out, I didn’t have a whole lot of money. So I relied on sources to help me with Christmas. And it just was an idea that I came up with one day that I said, ‘We have a lot of need in the community that needs help during Christmas time. Let’s see how it goes,'” she said.

The dinner and gift-giving will start at 6pm on Sunday, December 15th at the Hampton Inn in Salisbury.

If you’re interested in sponsoring a child or family, contact Nichole directly on Facebook.
