BREAKING: Democrat Jane Gruenebaum wins Sussex County Council District 3 seat defeating Mark Schaeffer

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. – The latest in the race for the council seat in Sussex County District 3, between newcomer Democrat Jane Gruenebaum and incumbent councilman Republican Mark Schaeffer.

Gruenebaum defeated Schaeffer with 20,610 votes compared to his 17,050 votes. That resulted in 54.73% of the vote.

WMDT spoke with Gruenebaum, and she said she is so excited to get to work.

“It’s looking good, and of course we are delighted, we ran a great campaign, a lot of work, a lot of people put a lot of time into this, so we’re feeling pretty happy right now.”

Gruenebaum is striving to bring balance to the council, focusing on concerns about the environment and infrastructure.
