Crisfield Crab Derby

as the annual hard crab derby race yesterday in crisfield. but hermine didn’t put a damper on all of the events for the sixty-nineth annual crisfield national hard crab derby. 47 abc’s justina coronel was there earlier today and has the story. track 1 the crisfield area chamber of commerce hosted this year’s 69th annual national hard crab derby and fair this weekend at somers cove marina. but with the rainfall from hermine, all of the events, were cancelled on saturday. even the most anticipated one, the crab race, which the fair was even named after. but the co-chair of the derby said that they made up for the loss by having the crab race early sunday morning. the rain has messed up our schedule a little bit. we’ve packed today’s events solid full everything with half an hour of one ending and we have another one starting. track 2 besides the crab race, the boat docking contest was another crowd favorite. here we have our waterman ready to start the boat docking, i’ve been afforded the opportunity over the years to start it. “waterman’s start your engines”. it’s a great day you look around the crowd and we’re in for a lot of thrills with boat docking. track 3 this boat docking contest consisted of all types of boats that are placed in different categories. they sign up hours before the race but are qualified to win up to $30,000. besides watching the boats zoom by, crowds could also enjoy the outdoors by going on some rides as well as enjoying local food and drink vendors. and one vendor says that he has been coming here for over 10 years because this event is unlike any other. people love this event because its unique, no where else in the country is there a crab derby. it’s kind of like a novelty. track 4 the owner was not present but his employee seth thompson has worked at the derby event for the past four years and says that he has heard from multiple customers about the uniqueness of the event. if hermine winds do not pick up, the annual derby will end with some shine from the fireworks. justina coronel 47 abc. to find out the winners from the crab derby
