Sterling’s Game-Winner Lifts Bennett Field Hockey Past Parkside

The James M. Bennett field hockey team gutted out a 1-0 win in overtime over Parkside Wednesday night after Julianna Sterling scored the game winner. The win improves the Clippers to 2-1, while the Rams drop to 1-1.

The teams would be in a battle throughout the match. Sterling and Hope Hare would lead the attack and create several scoring opportunities but the Rams defense would recover at the last second to keep the game scoreless. Abby Roskovich & Maura Mears would clear most balls in front of the cage, and even the ones that got through would ultimately be saved by Tori Barmoy. As the game wore on the Rams began to gain more possession, but struggled to generate shots on goal. Sterling would get a chance to win the game with less than a minute in regulation on a break away before her shot was turned back to send the teams to overtime. There she would get her revenge as she took a pass from Hare and was able to put it away.

Bennett returns to work on Wednesday when they hos St. Michaels while Parkside travels to Pocomoke on Friday.
