Investigation into multiple thefts in Del., Md. lead to two arrests

DAGSBORO, Del. – Delaware State Police have arrested a Dagsboro pair on charges stemming from a theft investigation.

Between May and July, police investigated multiple reports of similar thefts, involving unknown suspects stealing skid steers from commercial properties. On Tuesday, detectives learned that Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies were investigating thefts in the Berlin area. In a collaboration with Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies, detectives were able to identify 40-year-old Cody Hudson and 45-year-old Tara Higgins as the suspects in the Delaware skid steer thefts as well as the thefts in Maryland.

On Wednesday, detectives executed a search warrant at a property in the 31000 block of Swamp Road in Dagsboro, recovering one of the stolen skid steers and the stolen property from Maryland. Hudson and Higgins were both arrested at the property.

Each were charged with theft over $50,000, theft over $1500, three counts of second degree conspiracy, receiving stolen property over $1500, tampering with evidence, receiving stolen property under $1500, and two counts of third degree criminal trespass, and were released on an $11,502 unsecured bond.

Charges from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office are pending at this time.
