Wicomico County Humane Society host fundraiser for new facility

Fur & Field Day

MARYLAND – The furriest members of Wicomico County are having a field day. The Wicomico County Humane Society is having its first annual Fur & Field Day this September.

The Humane Society has just received approval for the land they plan to build their new facility on within the next few years. They will need to raise between $7-8 million. Event Coordinator Whitney Hoffman says they wanted to do a fundraiser because of their overcapacity. She says there will be plenty of games like human ring toss, fill the bucket, and tug-a-war to name a few.

She says they are asking the public not to bring their pets, but to focus on those animals in need, and that this is a fundraiser they hope to do in the years to come. “We currently don’t have all the teams we need for the field day; we’re still looking for a few more if anyone wants to get a business or friends, family together. And we also need volunteers to referee the different activities or help us with our food and sales table and all that. So, any help we would really appreciate it.”

Organizers says there will be vendors set up and music to enjoy so come out on Saturday, September 7th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and help out their furry friends.
