Phone scam update in Talbot County
TALBOT COUNTY, Md – The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office warns residents of a phone scam.
Callers are identifying themselves as members of the sheriff’s department—they use real officer names.
The caller threatens the victim with being arrested unless they send a cash payment via Coin Me atm.
Captain John Bollinger spoke with WMDT today and announced all residents of Talbot County. “The police will never contact you and ask for money so we don’t arrest you, that will never happen, so anytime anyone ever asks you for money, it’s a scam don’t do it.”
Police believe that the suspects are not from the United States and advise residents to continue to remain vigilant as they continue the investigation.
