Barricade suspect facing attempted murder charges

47abc is learning more about a four hour barricade situation that happened in Willards on Monday night.

25-year-old Alex Bartell is facing multiple charges in that incident including attempted murder, assault and false imprisonment.

Court documents show it all started just before 10 pm when officers responded to Poplar Neck Road. A victim told police that she and her son were held hostage for thirty minutes and assaulted..

Bartell then reportedly locked himself in his room with weapons and threatened an officer. More officers were called to the scene where they surrounded the home and they heard Bartell breaking things.

According to the court documents, Bartell eventually left his room and pointed weapons at officers at least twelve times. An officer eventually fired, striking Bartell in the right arm, causing him to drop his weapon.

Bartell was treated and is now being held without bond.
