Congressman Andy Harris weighs in on investigation into Trump’s assassination attempt

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Eastern Shore Congressman Andy Harris is weighing in as the investigation into former President Donald Trump’s assassination attempt continues on Capitol Hill.
On Wednesday, Congressional lawmakers voted to establish a task force to investigate the incident. On the heels of that vote, WMDT News sat down with Congressman Andy Harris for his thoughts on what happened that day and where the investigation stands now.
Congressman Harris tells our news department that the secret service detail was understaffed that day, and had it been the other way around, it would’ve been a different story.
“We have to find out why that understaffing occurred,” Congressman Harris explained. “Had adequate staffing been there, they would have expanded the protected area, and that protected area would’ve come under secret service protection, not under local law enforcement protection.”
Congressional lawmakers are continuing their investigation into that day’s events. Their new task force will be comprised of seven Republicans and six Democrats.
