Salisbury residents react to the heat, offering up advice for those who are out in it

Heat

SALISBURY, Md. – With feels-like temperatures nearing 107 degrees in Salisbury, WMDT News took to the streets this afternoon where we spoke to several residents on how they’re dealing with this oppressive heat, and what advice they have for those who have to be out in it.

“The heat is horrible! I hate this type of heat,” one woman told our news department as she held up a cup of water. “I’m ready for fall! I’m ready for winter! But please stay hydrated out here! I do not like this heat, it’s terrible!”

There were others who we spoke to who actually enjoy the heat and chose to be out and about to soak up the sun, but they also stressed the need to stay hydrated.

“I am a heat person!,” another resident who we spoke with said. “I love the heat. It doesn’t bother me. I love this weather, that’s why I’m out in it now. Just try to find shade cause I know everybody doesn’t like the heat. But, just try to find somewhere cool that you can cool down, and be comfortable.”

Another woman we spoke to also said she’s enjoying the weather, and put it bluntly when asked about those who aren’t too happy about the oppressive temperatures: “stay in the house and drink ya water! That’s it!”

Unfortunately, for those who can’t stand the heat, not much relief will be on the horizon after the sun sets tonight as temperatures are expected to only drop into the mid-70’s with high humidity.

As far as the next few days, there’s some good news, temperatures won’t be as hot as Saturday, but will still be close to 90 degrees heading into next week. It’s important to stay hydrated and take it easy if you have to be outside to avoid the risk of heat-related illness.
