Good Morning Delmarva discusses the inaugural Pocomoke River Raft Race!
WMDT – This Friday, July 5th, the Snow Hill Area Chamber of Commerce is introducing a new and unique inaugural event to the town.
It’s called the Pocomoke River Raft Race.
It’s an opportunity for creatives and thrill-seeking adventurers to build their own homemade boat to compete in a friendly race across the river.
Mandy Gladden, Executive Director for the Snow Hill Area Chamber of Commerce, tells us they wanted to bring the community and local businesses together which inspired the event.
There will also be awards and prizes such as best dressed and the broken paddle award.
Food and drinks will be supplied, and you could win cash prizes playing the PLINKO game.
After the race, there will be a first Friday Independence Day celebration with fireworks.
There are a few restrictions on what you can use to build your boat but Gladden says there’s a lot of different ways to make your raft.
The event is being held at Sturgis Park in Snow Hill by the riverbank and the race will begin at 12PM, but competition participants can check-in at 10AM.
