Salisbury homicide: Johnathan MeGee found guilty on all charges

SALISBURY, Md. – A verdict has finally been reached in the Johnathan MeGee murder trial. After nearly three hours of deliberation, MeGee was found guilty on all charges including 2nd degree murder. Back in August of 2018, MeGee was one of the suspects identified for shooting and killing 29-year old Shawn Johnson in June. The trial, which lasted for three days, was full of testimony from key witnesses and investigators. MeGee was also convicted of manslaughter, assault in the 1st and 2nd degree, illegal possession of a firearm, and more. Officials say they’re happy to get one more criminal off the streets.

“We’re happy that the jury held Mr. MeGee accountable and we’re really happy that Wicomico County is a little bit safer tonight because there is a very dangerous man who is off our streets,” said Deputy State’s Attorney, Billy McDermott.

“I’m grateful for the dedication of my prosecutors, of law enforcement, of the courts, of the entire system that help make hopefully what it will be, our future, a better place,” said Wicomico County State’s Attorney, Jamie Dykes.

MeGee is expected to be sentenced at a later date. As for the homicide investigation, officials say it’s still ongoing.
