UPDATE: Early morning crash into Dover home claims life of one

DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of one early Tuesday morning in Dover.

At around 2:40 a.m., police say a Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Forrest Avenue, just east of Arctic Drive, at an apparent high rate of speed. The vehicle reportedly lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve in the roadway, veering off the road, and hitting a mailbox before crashing into a residence.

The driver then reportedly fled the scene and has yet to be identified.

The 56-year-old occupant of the residence was severely injured and was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.
