Decatur wins regional title over North Caroline

BERLIN, Md.– Decatur defeated North Caroline in a final score of 2-1 on Thursday afternoon in the 2A regional championship game.

It was a pitchers duel for the first 4 innings of play. North Caroline would have some moments with runners in scoring position with no outs or 1 out, but they would leave the runners stranded.

Decatur broke the scoreless tie with a huge a solo shot in the left center field from Kiara Taylor. Maddie Donoway would give the Seahawks a huge insurance run in the 6th to make it a 2-0 ballgame.

North Caroline would not go down swinging, the Bulldogs would plate 1 run off a RBI single in the 7th to make it a 1 run game. Seahawks pitcher Emily Blume would make sure that was the only run they would get as she would get a pop fly in foul territory to secure the win.
