Good Morning Delmarva discusses the Community Players of Salisbury
47ABC – The Community Players of Salisbury is one of the oldest operating community theaters in Maryland and aside from producing amazing shows, they do a lot of year-round projects to help the community.
This morning, Rusty Mumford, the corresponding secretary and marketing committee chair, stopped by Good Morning Delmarva to discuss those efforts and the renovations their space is undergoing.
Mumford tells us that the non-profit organization began in 1937 with only 26 members!
They are a passionate all-volunteer organization that continues to grow.
They currently do 4 shows per season, have a scholarship program, and offer a Summer Children’s Theatre Workshop in July.
Mumford says they’ve been focusing on renovating their rehearsal space to turn it into a full theatre!
This way they can host a bigger audience.
They hope to be able to perform their shows there instead of renting. Mumford says this could be a three-year project.
They open their arms to anyone who is interested in theatre.
