Frederica woman charged with theft, forgery

FREDERICA, Del. – A Frederica woman has been charged with felony theft and forgery offenses.

On Monday, troopers were called to a home on Cooper Road for a reported theft, meeting with a 79-year-old victim who reported that money and checks had been stolen from the house. Further investigation led police to identify the suspect as 30-year-old Kaitlyn Maynard, a cleaning company employee. It was learned that Maynard reportedly tried to cash a check that she forged with the victim’s signature at a local bank, but was not successful.

Maynard turned herself in and was charged with theft under $1500 where a victim is over 62, attempted theft under $1500 where a victim is over 62, and second degree forgery. She was released on a $6,000 unsecured bond.
