Electric rates in Milford to increase in June

Milford, De

MILFORD, Del. – City of Milford residents will see a 2.4% power cost adjustment increase next month.

We’re told the current Power Cost Adjustment will be increased by $0.00353 per kilowatt-hour to $0.02477 per kilowatt-hour for energy usage starting in June.

Officials say this cost increase is due to market-driven capacity cost increases impacting all electric users on Delmarva. This results in a 2.4 percent increase in electric bills for the average residential and small business accounts in Milford. Commercial accounts in the city can expect an increase ranging from 2.3 to 3.0 percent, depending on demand, load factor, seasonality, and time of use.

City officials add that even with this rate increase, bills are comparable to the city’s rates dating back more than six years.

The city is encouraging customers to utilize Efficiency Smart for rebates and an electric usage monitor.
