Salisbury Sea Gulls end regular season on four game winning streak

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Sea Gulls Women’s Lacrosse Team takes down Christopher Newport 18-11 to end the season on a four-game winning streak.

It was a close game through three quarters, with the Gulls and Captains tied at eight at halftime and being tied 10-10 with a few ticks left in the 3rd. Then the Gulls turned it on with a 5-0 Gulls run that helped them take full control of this game. The Gulls were on fire during the fourth quarter, scoring six goals in the final frame to open this game up. The defense also stepped up a level in the fourth, the Gulls only gave up one goal for the last 15 minutes of the game. Head Coach Jim Nestor said things turned around for the Gulls at the right time.

“We were dominating or doing very well in the draw control which allowed us more offensive possessions and then when we were on defense, our defense really did a great job stepping up. They were shutting down some of their top players and they had a great first half you know for us that second half and overall we picked up our whole play just in general… It always feels good when you’re ending the regular season on a high note and it being senior day makes it even more special. But this allows us to be able to host the C2C which means we’re not on the road so obviously that’s a really good feeling heading into the conference playoffs,” Nestor said.
