Corrected: 5-year-old boy dies days after car crash near Camden

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit says it is continuing to investigate a fatal car crash which killed a 5-year-old child according to a release from September 30.
Officials say the initial investigation found out that the incident happened around 8PM on September 17, Mark Long was driving a 2002 Lexus RX300 northbound on Oak Point School Road approaching Jebb Road west of Camden.
Long apparently failed to negotiate a moderate left curve and his car started to spin in a counter clockwise direction. Officials say as the Lexus rotated, its right side tires dug into the roadway causing it to rollover throwing both Long and his five-year-old son form the car.
The report notes that the Lexus left the west side of the roadway and landed on its roof facing in a south direction in a private yard.
According to officials, Mark Long, 53, of Camden, was transported by ambulance to the Kent General Hospital where he is admitted in critical condition.
His 5-year-old son, Matthew J. Long, was air lifted by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to Alfred I. DuPont Children’s Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition until he died on Friday September 23, 2016 as a result of his injuries.
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident.
Investigators note that it is believed both the operator and his passenger were not properly restrained and speed may have been a contributing factor in this collision.
No charges have been filed at this time.
