Delmarva Shorebirds 2024 Season Preview
SALISBURY, Md.– We are mere days away from the opening pitch of another season of Shorebirds baseball. A new season and a new Manager, but this head skipper is a familiar face, Collin Woody.
“It’s a great honor to be one of our minor league coaches in this incredible minor league system. I don’t take that likely, I know there’s a lot of responsibility,” said Woody.
Of all the things that come with being the head skipper of a ball club, the one thing that interests Woody the most is the development.
“To see them have success on the field is what I think intrigues me the most, being able to witness all the work they put in and then see that work pay off,” said Woody.
The one thing in minor league baseball is players moving around all over the place. Some might stay for 2 months, and some might stay a whole season but for coach Woody, he wants everyone to move up.
“By the end of the season hopefully, none of these guys will be Delmarva Shorebirds, they’ll be Aberdeen Ironbirds, Bowie Baysox, Norfolk Tides. If we’re really crazy maybe they’ll be big leaguers you know,” said Woody.
Woody has done a little bit of everything in the O’s organization and he is very excited for the upcoming season, and the future.
“It’s been incredibly cool to be a part of that process, you know in many different roles, as a player as a coach, and now as a manager. I’m excited to be a part of it. I’m really excited for the future and, I think the best things are ahead of us,” said Woody.
