Decatur falls short in 3A state semi-finals
UPPER MARLBORO, Md.– Decatur fell short in the class 3A state semi-finals to St. Charles in a final score of 63-61.
The Seahawks had no trouble finding the bottom of the net in this one, they finished the 1st quarter up 19-14. St. Charles would battle back and it would be an even contest in the 2nd quarter, both teams went into the locker tied at 31-31.
Decatur would go on a run in the 3rd but St. Charles would not go away, they would keep battling and the score would remain in the single digits. Some unfortunate calls late in the 4th would foul out Junior guard Davin Chandler, giving St. Charles some momentum.
St. Charles would struggle at the free throw with less than 30 seconds in the game and it would remain a single possession game. Decatur would have one last chance to tie it up or win it with 0.9 seconds left on the clock. The inbounds pass was out of reach for Trybe Wise and the game would end at 63-61.
Careen Bolden had 20 points and Davin Chandler had 18 for Decatur.
