Sussex Co. home heavily damaged in weekend fire

SUSSEX CO., Del. – An investigation is underway after a home in the Baywood development was heavily damaged in a fire early Sunday morning.

Crews responded to Long Spoon Way at around 2 a.m. for a reported house fire, with several departments called in to assist. One firefighter was evaluated by EMS at the scene, but no other injuries were reported.

Investigators say the fire began in the garage and quickly spread through the home. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
