Georgetown crash claims life of one, injures two others

GEORGETOWN, Del. – An early morning crash in Georgetown claimed the life of one and injured two others.

At around 7:40 a.m. Thursday, police say a 2020 Volvo VHD roll-off container truck was traveling westbound on Shortly Road, approaching Bull Pine Road. At the same time, a 2008 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Bull Pine Road, approaching a stop sign at the intersection with Shortly Road, when it allegedly failed to stop and pulled out in front of the Volvo.

The driver of the Honda, a 34-year-old Georgetown woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The front passenger in the Honda, a 29-year-old woman, was airlifted to a nearby trauma hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The driver of the Volvo, a 59-year-old Millsboro man, was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
